President Barack Obama has once again declared he has no intention of following the rule of the land, the Constitution or even what the Supreme Court has mandated.
Responding to a question about deporting some four million people affected after the Supreme Court upheldan injunction on his Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents policy, the president basically said he would ignore the high court’s decision.
The president indicated that enforcement priorities already in place were not affected by the ruling, and therefore deporting those in the country illegally was not a priority of his administration.
llegal immigrants who “have roots” in their communities are “low priorities,” the president said during his speech, even though they will not be able to have access to some government benefits, such as work permits and legal status — things he promised them with his “deferred action” program in 2014.
“What was unaffected by today’s ruling, or lack of a ruling, is the enforcement priorities that we’ve put in place,” Obama said.
“Our enforcement priorities have been laid out by Secretary Jeh Johnson and the Department of Homeland Security are pretty clear,” he added.
