Welfare Recipients Will Never Leave The Program As Long As There Are No Strings Attached

We have heard this argument many times through the years that if you don’t have a job, if you are not married and have many kids you will get Welfare benefits with no strings attached. One thing parents always use to do was teach their kids the work ethic of finding a job, making your own money which meant independence for ones self. My father emigrated from Greece, served in World War I and in his old age when he had the opportunity to receive food stamps he didn’t want to hear about it. I tried to explain to him that he had paid many years into the system and he was actually getting back what he put in and why give it back to the freeloaders. Still, he wanted no part of it.
